OFFICIAL: USYK COMES BACK THIS SUMMER!

On the night of August 26 night at the Tarczyński Arena in Wroclaw, Poland, the IBF, WBA, WBO,IBO and The Ring Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr Usyk (20-0-0, 13 KOs) will face the current WBA Regular Champion, Britain’s Daniel Dubois (19-1-0, 18 KOs). The world heavyweight title clash will headline the K2 Promotions boxing event in collaboration with Knockout Promotions and Skill Challenge Promotions.

It was in Poland, where seven years ago, Usyk began his flash-like journey to the title of the undisputed cruiserweight champion by winning the belt of the WBO in a fight against Krzysztof Glowacki. This time Oleksandr will step into a Polish ring again but on his way to Undisputed status in the heavyweight division. Here, we should recall that to complete the full collection, Usyk lacks the belt of WBC, which now is owned by Tyson Fury, who is also the Lineal champion. Oleksandr Usyk: “I am very glad that we have the opportunity to organize my fight in Poland, where I won my first world title seven years ago. I want to thank the Polish people who are helping Ukraine so sincerely. Hundreds of thousands of my compatriots have been hosted by this wonderful country. Therefore, I hope that my fight will become one more opportunity for Ukrainians and people of Poland to unite and strengthen our friendship.”

Daniel “Dynamite” Dubois is 11 years younger than Usyk. The 25-year-old British boxer is promoted by Frank Warren’s Queensberry and has a record of 20 fights, 19 wins (18 by KO) and just one loss to his compatriot Joe Joyce in November 2020. At the same time, before being stopped due to an eye injury, Dubois was ahead on the scorecards. There were five championship belts at stake: EBU, WBC Silver, WBO International, BBBofC British and Commonwealth Boxing Council Heavyweight belts.

Daniel Dubois: “I’m looking forward to challenging Oleksandr Usyk and am confident that I will be returning to the UK with the belts. He is a great fighter and I do respect him, but it’s my time now. I’m going to shock the world and show people how good Daniel Dubois really is.” Dubois won his WBA (Regular) belt against ex-champion Trevor Bryan in June 2022. Later the Briton successfully defended his title in December last year and this presented him with the
opportunity to become WBA (Super) Heavyweight mandatory challenger. Previously Daniel held the WBC Silver, WBO International, WBO Global, WBO European, BBBofC British, WBC Youth and BBBofC Southern Area titles.

Alexander A. Krassyuk (K2 Promotions): “Today we are officially announcing the Usyk vs Dubois Unified heavyweight championship to take place in the Polish city of Wroclaw. The Stadium “Tarczyński Arena” has already witnessed the victory of a Ukrainian boxer when Vitali Klitschko defeated Tomasz Adamek back in 2011. We have put in extraordinary efforts to make a “home” fight for Usyk who has been fighting in the backyards of his opponents since 2016. The serious preparation is in progress. Tickets are about to become available. This show will mean a lot for Ukraine as it will be broadcast live throughout the world. We do trust that the whole planet will be witnessing a Ukrainian victory.”

Frank Warren (Queensberry): “The date of August 26 is when Daniel Dubois will turn the heavyweight division on its head by becoming the WBO, WBA and IBF World Heavyweight Champion. To the outside world, Daniel is a big outsider, but here at Queensberry we are supremely confident in his ability to cause a major upset and achieve the status he set out to realise when he turned professional with us back in 2017. “I knew back then that we were working with a future world champion, and he now has the opportunity to chase greatness against a fine champion in Oleksandr Usyk in front of many
thousands of fans in Wroclaw. “I am so looking forward to the fight and it will be our absolute pleasure to be part of a historic
occasion in Poland, where there will be a huge presence from Ukraine.”

Egis Klimas (Maganer of Oleksand Usyk): “Happy to announce that finally we have a fight between the WBO, IBF, WBA, IBO and The Ring Magazine Champion Oleksandr Usyk and Regular WBA Champion Daniel Dubois, all signed and sealed. I am looking forward to August 26th in Poland at Wroclaw stadium filling up with approximately 45,000 people. It’s my pleasure to represent Mr Usyk and to be part of this global level event. We do not underestimate our opponent as we very well understand his size, reach and he can really punch. So, saying this, I mean that Oleksandr is already in camp and preparing for the fight to be 100% ready. Hopefully, with the victory in this fight, it will lead us into the biggest clash in the world, a unification for the undisputed heavyweight championship with WBC Champion Tyson Fury. But first, as I said, we are not overlooking this upcoming bout with Daniel and taking it very seriously.”

Andrjei Wasilewski (Knockout Promotions): “It is a great pleasure and honor for me to invite our Ukrainian friends to Poland for this extraordinary boxing event. This magnificent celebration marks another chapter in our shared history, both socially and in sports. For Ukrainians in Poland and for Poles, this historical event is truly unique. Our group, KnockOut Promotions, has been operating for 25 years, during which we have organized many outstanding events featuring numerous world championship fights. However, we have never hosted a three heavyweight titles fight on Polish soil! We are thrilled that Oleksandr Usyk, a great man and phenomenal athlete, will once again fight in Poland. It was here, 7 years ago in Gdańsk, that he began his journey to unify the World Cruiserweight titles with a victory over our champion, Krzysztof Głowacki. We are also delighted that our boxers will appear on a strong card – Fiodor Cherkashyn, an exceptional talent who is already one of the best middleweight fighters in the world, and the promising Rafał Wołczecki. This is another opportunity to see Knockout fighters among the greatest in the world. It is truly a great thing to be a co-promoter of this incredible event! I would like to thank the entire Usyk team, including my longtime friend Alexander Krassyuk, for their friendship, excellent relationships, and fantastic collaboration.”

The fight will be broadcast exclusively live on TNT Sports Box Office in the UK and Ireland.
Broadcast details for other territories will be announced shortly.
